Fractional distillation |
| Separation of a mixture of two or more liquids that have boiling points close to each other. This separation takes place in an apparatus containing a vertical fractionating column with a large contact surface for the condensation of the vapors of the evaporated liquid. the lower boiling liquid will distill the first and then the others, in increasing order of boiling points. |
